Goals


      Our main goal is to create assistive and autonomous technologies that can deal with the real needs of different types of drivers (unskilled, old aged, disabled, etc.). These technologies may be, in a near future, embedded and tested onboard prototype vehicles. Due to this, we will be able to detect risky situations and do preventive actions to avoid crashes, running overs, etc. The large scale application of this kind of technology may reduce drastically the quantity of injured and dead people in automobile accidents. The DARPA 1st e 2nd Great Challenge (respectively in 2005 and 2007) in the USA and the ELROB in Europe are the best examples of competitions and demos in this topic.
